Tauchen
Träumen Sie von Tauchen mit Walen und
Delphinen ? Hier gibt es die
Möglichkeit, und auch noch - für Mitarbeit bei Forschungsprojekten - zu äusserst
günstigen Preisen. Nachstehend der Originaltext eines von mir abonnierten
Newsletters der "Whalefoundation":
Brief details of this
year's opportunities are given below. See
www.whalefoundation.f2s.com for further information or email me with
specific questions and for application forms. We will have the company of film
crews this year for a forthcoming documentary.
1. Winter volunteers
2. Mural project- Guinness record attempt
3. Volunteering on whale watching boats
4. Rib based bottlenose dolphin research
5. On board boat sailing the Canaries migration research
6. Whale & dolphin education courses.
7. Group visits
1. Winter volunteers- Abi, Mickael and Karline, our research team, will train
you and involve you in our research work. In exchange your money keeps them
alive! The cost is £100pw inclusive half board. Typically, they will go on the
boats 3-4 times pw and work in the lab the rest of the time- weekends are
relaxed. For people who can stay longer you can stay up to eight weeks, again on
a half board basis, for only £500. It is possible to go at any time from now!
2. Mural project- stage2 of this amazing project to create the world's largest
whale and dolphin mural takes place over Easter, when we will be painting six of
the great whales. No experience needed and, again, the cost is £100pw. Stage 3,
when we complete the mural, will be throughout July and August. (For people
wanting something a little more sedate, we will be running mural painting summer
schools based in a rural and idyllic vineyard property)
3. Volunteering on the whale watch boats- join hundreds of volunteers from all
over the world from late June through to early October. Work on guiding,
research, educational workshops, mural painting, graphic design. Very noisy
programme and great fun- a chance to make a real difference- and friends for
life. We are encouraging long stays and so £500 provides half board
accommodation and funds the projects for up to eight weeks! Shorter stays are
£150pw (£100 for students).
4. Rib based bottlenose dolphin research work. This work is based in Los
Gigantes and uses comfortable tourism quality accommodation in small relaxed
groups. There are three half-day research trips in a dedicated research rib to
the dolphins each week as well as the opportunity to work on the whale watch
boats once trained. Cost is £295pw. Great fun! Weekly July through September.
5. On board boat sailing the Canaries researching migration routes. In
September, the waters of the Canaries become calm as the seasons change and the
great whales pass through. This is an opportunity to live on board a boat for a
week at a time as we sail the Canaries tracking the movement of migrating whales
and dolphins, and exploring the more unknown parts of these beautiful islands.
Cost is £795 inclusive on board meals and full educational programme. The weekly
trips will run throughout September.
6. Whale & dolphin education courses: We are running six courses covering
cetacean biology, conservation, management, research and rescue. Additionally,
we will be running a turtle rescue programme. These accredited courses combine
theory and practice, on the whale watch boats, and cost £200 each (£100 for
students). Each certificated course consists of twenty hours spread over one
week. The courses will run late July through August.
7. Group visits: If you have a group of as little as four people and want to
plan an ethical whale watching trip based on rural properties and maximising the
educational value, then let us help you.
